I found out that the 0-60 time of 4.9 that Car and Driver recorded in 1987 for the GN was done without spooling on the launch because the stock brakes couldn't hold 5 lbs, so my car is doing what it's supposed to do. That means that the 1/4 time of 13.8 was done the same way, and that was with the stock 215s the car came with (my 275s don't break at all, except for a chirp on the 1-2 shift). Not bad for a 3400lb. V6 grocery getter.

This weekend was pretty boring. It rained constantly. My dad came over, made an ass of himself and wanted to fight my 60-year-old uncle, but I wasn't there when it happened.

Posting on the Internet because I'm bored.

Either my car is faster than it should be or my speedometer is off. I hit 60 in just under 5 seconds without prespooling. That's what it's supposed to do with a 5lb launch.

What the hell is with people and accidents? I got down two miles of 46 without leaving first gear. People were slowing down to look at an accident that happened on one of the side roads. There were no body parts. No cool cars. No bodies. People are stupid.

I heard some people talking about a highspeed chase that came through here yesterday, involving a van and speeds up to 120mph. My dad drives a van that could go that fast and has a history of running from the cops. My luck's not good enough for it to have been him, though.

I got behind a mustang the other day, and there was a semi-riced prelude in the other lane. The driver of the prelude was trying to get the driver of the mustang to race. They wouldn't do it, so I got behind the prelude. As soon as I switched lanes, he turned on his left blinker and drove the speed limit for about a quarter of a mile until he found a turning lane to turn off into. Most wait until they lose to turn off.

My dad -- a man who drinks at all hours of the day -- has accused my grandmother -- someone who has one or (rarely) two glasses of wine a night -- of drinking too much. She may be a nagging gossip, but she doesn't drink too much. In other news, my family has adopted the phrase "pulling a Dale" to associate with being a hypocrite. We've had this phrase for a while, but it used to be associated with a gift-receiver asking the gift-giver for the receipt so they could return the item to the store. It didn't get much use, however, because no one else does that.

That is all.

On the radio this morning, talking about a story about a fisherman's severed thumb:

Bob: I bet a blowfish thought it was a little weenie.
Pat: I don't think that's how blowfish got their name.
Bob: You obviously haven't been on many fishing excursions. A little tickle behind the gills, the little sucker's giving ya thrills. And don't even get me started on algae suckers. They'll clean more than the side of a tank. I'll have 'em clean the side of my dank.

My dad's awesome:

o0 SandmaN 0o: has dad come by/called
drj00sh: yeah
o0 SandmaN 0o: he called this morning like 50 times
o0 SandmaN 0o: wtf did he want
drj00sh: he wanted to get with the program, jums
drj00sh: but I was having none of that
drj00sh: so he left
o0 SandmaN 0o: what'd he want you to do
drj00sh: he wanted to fix my tire
drj00sh: but he got mad about something and he started yelling at me and then started talking about how grandma is stupid, not thinking right, senile, etc and I got tired of hearing it and went inside
o0 SandmaN 0o: what'd he do then
drj00sh: well he was yelling pussy as I closed the door, and then he left
o0 SandmaN 0o: what was he getting mad about
o0 SandmaN 0o: I mean specifically, besides everything
drj00sh: cuz I wasn't paying attention
drj00sh: cuz he woke me up early by banging on my fucking window and I was tired
drj00sh: gah, he needs to die
o0 SandmaN 0o: what's that have to do with grandma
drj00sh: he said she was poisoning me

Got my car back from the tranny shop and now I'm broke. $2150 to rebuild with a whole new valve body, shift kit, converter, new lines and whatever else the guy did. At first I was disappointed in the shift kit, because it only felt slightly more firm than stock (or what I remember stock to be like), but it didn't seem too bad when I pulled out onto SR46 and hit 95 without even trying. The fixed vacuum leak and the fact that I'm no longer breaking the tires loose in between shifts probably have something to do with that, but it's awesome being able to shift in and out of first in slow, creeping traffic without it feeling like I'm getting rear-ended. That's always a plus. Of course there's the chance the guy screwed with the speedo gears and my speedometer is about 10-15 mph too fast.
