I'm somewhat unemployed now. My "position with the company has been eliminated," meaning the thing I was doing no longer needs to be done. Me not showing up to work probably had something to do with it. Whenever I had any reason at all to stay home, I did and came in on the weekend instead to get out of doing shit with my dad. Wasn't much to do at work, anyway. Respond to the 3 or so emails, take about 5 calls, bill 10 credit cards (if it's a good day) and surf the web all goddamn day. Pretty boring, so I figured, if I'm going to be miserable with being sick or tired or whatever, may as well be miserable at home, where I can and did do most of my job. Everything but take calls and take out the trash. Oh well. Been kind of waiting to get fired for a few months now, anyway.
I say somewhat unemployed because I'm supposed to start working from home, making money on a commission basis doing support for other pharmacy sites that I can only assume aren't ready yet. No excuse to miss work then.
Hopefully I won't lose my free hosting... :)
Hurricane season is upon us, and this year I am prepared. I have my own generator for my side of the house to power my PS2, small television and a fan. No more sitting in the dark, bored as hell and sweating my ass off. Not when I've got all seasons of the Brak Show and Aqua Teen Hunger Force to keep me occupied for days.
Speaking of hurricanes, we caught some of the bands from the one that made its way to Florida yesterday and it rained like hell. I have bad weather seals and with enough rain eventually water makes its way inside and gets my seats wet. I went out to start the car and instead of a running engine I got a face full of smoke. Dash lights turn on, scanmaster lights up, fuel pump primes, radio works, fuse box has power, but when I turn the key all the way to start it there's no starting. Just smoke coming from under the dash. Should be a fun learning experience once it dries up a bit outside.
Kind of gives some validity to the excuse I used for getting out of a federal jury summons. The courthouse is more than 60 miles away so I said the transportation I had was not reliable enough to get me that far. Couldn't be any more true right now.
