This section used to have more stuff in it, but the content just pales in comparison to the main event: My e-mail correspondence with Mr. James P. Sweeney.
At the tail-end of my days of being a CS rep for an e-pharmacy in 2004, I received a complaint by this guy that he did not receive his medication. I checked the tracking number on his package and saw that it was delivered and signed for by someone named John Warwick. After checking his order history, I saw that one of his other orders was in the name of the person who signed for the package. I instructed Mr. Sweeney to ask his friend John for the package. He insisted he didn't know a John, so I told him to file a claim with Fedex (as was instructed to me; see the bottom of this page if your BS meter is going off). He continued to harrass us via phone and email, wanting us to re-ship his medication. At this time, it's to my knowledge that he never asked for his money; he just wanted more pills. I put his email in my auto-delete message filters and ignored his phone calls. Shortly after, I was assigned to a different project, so my office manager Kelli was left to deal with him.
A number of months went by and James Sweeney continued to threaten us with all sorts of law suits, defamation, personal visits and other things a hydrocodone-addicted lunatic would think up in between popping pills. He found out our physical location and the name of the owner of the company (Craig) and started sending legal documents. These documents were actually examples he found on a website, and he apparently didn't even go through the trouble of reading them, as they weren't relevant in any way. He also disputed the charges and successfully had the money credited back to his account, despite our disputing the chargebacks. I guess his bank did this just to shut him up. Either that or we got tired of disputing them. Even then, after receiving the medication and getting his money back, he continued to badger Kelli.
Fast forward a few months. Kelli no longer works here, and I'm back on CS duty. About a week into it I get an email from xnavyjps@aol.com, and thus the saga begins anew.
I posted these e-mails on my forums, bwhacks.com and turbobuicks.com. Lots of people posted AIM conversations, phone recordings, etc. Unfortunately I no longer have that stuff, and it sucks because the voice mails and the prank call video were really good. So, if you have any of that, please send them to me so I can put up again.
Two Days of Sweeney
All of the emails sent to and received from James Sweeney during the first two days of our wonderful relationship.
Two More Days
After a brief intermission, more emails.
Sweeney Comeback Special
I thought JS was done. Turns out he was just out of pills.
Some people have said that all of this was completely made up because FedEx requires the shipper to file an insurance claim, and that the bank/credit card company would never give Mr. Sweeney his money back if it was proven that the package was signed for. About the FedEx claim: That's just what I was told. I'm not the boss so I just do what I'm told (generally speaking). About the chargeback: we disputed every single chargeback he sent as far as I know, each time sending proof of delivery with signature. He continued to dispute the charges (I'm assuming for each of his multiple orders), and eventually he did get his money back. I don't know how. I don't know why. I was not in charge of that stuff at the time so I don't know the specifics. My guess is that the office manager at the time got tired of dealing with him so she marked the chargebacks as "valid" and filed them away, but I'm not sure and I'm not about to go diving through files to investigate. If you still think all of this was fabricated, I guess that means you won't be enjoying it. Sucks for you.
And to those asking what my employer thinks of all of this: He knew I was a smartass when he hired me.
